An Englishman's Garden Adventures
The Vegetable Garden was the first part of the garden I developed, rather haphazardly in 2007. Initially it consisted of eight raised beds made from green oak planks, set into the rough lawn. The grassy paths were a nightmare to maintain, and in 2012 we undertook the Herculean task of paving the area with brick pavers.
Fruit and Veg Vegetable gardening is hard work. For a decade we grew carrots, onions, peas, leaks, squashes, strawberries and brassicas of all kinds. By 2019, however, the oak beds had deteriorated and I was ready for a change. I redesigned and rebuilt the area as a summer flowering perennial garden.
