Botanical Photo Exhibition, London March 20-27

My plant photography is being featured in an exhibition at Kings College, London on 20th March 2025.

My photos will be displayed alongside those of French-Canadian Botanist, Brother Marie-Victorin (1885-1944). Marie-Victorin gained worldwide fame as the author of Flore laurentienne (an acclaimed flora of Quebec, 30 years in the making) and as father of the Botanical Garden of Montreal.

Marie-Victorin, 1930

The exhibition is the brainchild of by Dr Craig Moyes, Director of the Quebec and French Canada Research Network at the Inistitute of Languages, Cultures and Societies (ILCS), University of London. Dr Moyes approached me with the idea of setting up a dialogue about the role of photography in botanical study.

The exhibition will feature botanical photographs nearly a century apart from Marie-Victorin’s analogue photos circa 1930 (many of which were hand colourised) alongside a selection of my images from the 2020’s, captured with a modern digital camera.

The exhibition is set to coincide with a Dr Moyes’ book launch Lettres sur la sexualité humaine exploring the romantic relationship between Brother Marie-Victorin and one of his students Marcelle Gauvreauby, revealed through their extraordinary correspondence.

The exhibition, book launch and reception will be preceded by a round table discussion about the representation of nature in film. If you are interested in attending the event which is being held at Bush House, Central London at 6pm on March 20th, you can book tickets here:
