This is only their second summer since I planted them in the double pond that forms a central feature in my formal vegetable garden. I have one plant in each side of the pond, and each plant produced a single bloom. The variety, Gonnère, as you can see, is pure white, double-flowered, with olive-green outer bracts and a glowing golden inner sanctum. Each flower is about 5 inches across and scented. Beautiful.
Gonnère is a medium sized water lily, eventually spreading perhaps 1 to 1.2 metres across. At which point I can look forward to dozens of blooms.
