Building the greenhouse – foundations

PART 1: Creating the foundations for the greenhouse

« Design | The Workshop: 1 2 3 4 5 6 | Walls & Rafters»

Although a keen DIYer I didn’t fancy tackling foundations and brickwork, so we used a contractor for this part.

The footings were dug about 18 inches deep, and concrete poured to create 9 inch thick footings (deeper and thicker for the rear wall) upon which subterranean brickwork would start.

This depth means you don’t keep hitting a foundation strip when you are digging the border.

Greenhouse Construction details:

  1. Foundations
  2. Brickwork
  3. Erecting the framework
  4. Path and plumbing
  5. Painting it
  6. Glazing the roof
